We ALL need a little pick-me-up every now and then. That’s why I’m so excited about this positive affirmation mirror I added to my classroom this year! Not only is it for my students, but it’s also for me.
I think often times we’re our own worst enemy. This mirror is meant to serve my students and I during our moments of fear and doubt because the way we speak to ourselves matters!

Growth Mindset & Positivity Books
Growth mindset and positivity are hot topics in my classroom all year long! If you’re looking for some cute growth mindset posters, you can grab a set here.
I introduced the positive affirmation mirror through a read-aloud as well as a meaningful discussion. A HUGE part of our job as educators is to explicitly teach our students how to manage their emotions AND believe in themselves!
Below are some books that would be great to read as you discuss the positive affirmation mirror with your students.
Only One You
I absolutely adore the book Only One You. It urges readers to own their special qualities and be themselves. I also love pairing this book with a painting craft. I give a rock to each of my students, and then they get to create their own unique fish. They absolutely LOVE it!
Beautiful Oops
So many students are terrified of making mistakes, which is why Beautiful Oops should be in every elementary teacher’s library! This book keeps children on the edge of their seats with every turn of the page. The way it’s written and illustrated is brilliant, and it teaches children how a mistake can transform into something creative and beautiful.
My Magical Words
Quite honestly, My Magical Words hit home with me even as an adult. Each page is full of rhyming words and powerful messages that preach the importance of speaking to ourselves (and others) with kindness. It truly takes words of affirmation to another level!
Bubble Gum Brain
Bubble Gum Brain uses two main characters, Bubble Gum Brain and Brick Brain, to teach students about growth mindset and fixed mindset. Brick Brain is constantly talking negatively to himself, while Bubble Gum Brain finds the bright side in every situation. Eventually, Bubble Gum Brain teaches Brick Brain that if he takes his bubble gum wrapper off, he too can learn and grow!
So, if you and your students need a little boost of encouragement throughout the day, a positive affirmation mirror will do just that!
No matter what grade you teach, your classroom environment should be conducive to GROWTH and POSITIVITY for ALL! 🙂
